Staff friendly and helpful, room and bathroom clean, great location.
The small double room is very small, be warned! I would not book this room again as it has nowhere to put bags, can't even walk around the bed but ok if you are on a budget. We will book the larger room next time.No air con but does have a fan.
Central location and excellent staff.
Very expensive for a 'Guest House'. Very steep and narrow stairs especially difficult for children, however, there was a small lift. Parking also very expensive.
The hotel is near the tram stop and the place with the good evening and night activity Leidseplein. A lot of bars and restaurants. A Museumplein with Van Gog museum, Diamonds Museum. Rijksmuseum are in just 5 min. Walking distance from hotel. You can reach city center Dam Square by one of the 3 trams stops in 12 min. Or you can walk about 30 across the canals and watch city. Canal Cruise and buss stops under bridge a minute walk. Hotel staff are very polite and welcome for a budjet hotel.
Finding hotel can b ea little trikky :) Entrance is a some downstairs between other hotels. I have twisted a round one time before find this. If you are arriving quite late ring the bell with buttion on the right side from the door.
The staff at the Hestia are very very nice. Breakfast is an added bonus. It's very very good. Cute hotel at a very convenient location in amsterdam.
Poor ventilation in my bathroom made me go from a 'good' to 'fair' with respect to room cleanliness.
Both the location and the staff were excellent.
1. The facility is somewhat old. The bath was as if it was taken from the 80s and not refurbished ever since. For a few days it is not a problem, not recommendable for few weeks. 2. If you are traveling with a car, you should be aware that parking there can be quite costly - as much as 36 Euros/day or 3/4 Euros per hour. On holidays the parking is free. Finding a place to park is challenging.
the location is good, the room is clean, staff is frienfly
very poor facilties in the room. Extremely expensive for the services offered.
Good breakfast. Large, warm, comfortable room. Good sized bathroom. Friendly manager.
No tea making facilities in room - manager made tea for us, at a cost. Squeezy elevator.
Very pleasant and welcoming personnel, good location and excellent breakfast.
Room a bit small, but still adequately equipped and comfortable.
Excellent location, very good breakfast.
We were unlucky enough to get the last (quite tiny) room available which is right next to the reception (on the ground floor, but actually only half above ground). This actually gave the feeling that we were actually staying in the reception, plus it was getting a bit noisy at night and early morning as the room is really next to the entrance and the walls are not thick at all.
The hotel is situated close to the Leidsplein where many pubs and attractions can be found.
The room needs to be renovated.
Breakfast and breakfast room were very good. Ruth at front desk was very attentive and helpful. She switched us to a better room when the room we booked had a broken safe and a non-working light. Location was close enough to public transportations to suit our needs.Location was on a quiet neighborhood street.
Original room was of poor quality and not acceptible even as a budget room. Elevator was so small two people and two suitcases did not fit at one time. Internet use fees are excessive. Would not recommend this hotel if affordable internet is important.
Motivated and really friendly staff
Very small room, functional but not eye pleasing furniture,
Pleased with our large double room, big enough for table & chairs plus an arm chair. Location excellent, in a quiet residential street. Room 22 was at the back and overlooked a bit of the Vondelpark. Hotel has a small outdoor seating area and a little lounge area at the back of the breakfast zone. Steep internal stairs, but there is a lift. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Hotel is secure, the entrance is down a few steps and the door is automatic. Breakfast was good, fruit+yoghurt+cereal+juice, a selection of breads+boiled eggs+hams+cheese. Good location, 30 mins walk from the station and under 10 minutes to the centre of Amsterdam. Good for the museums and wandering along canalside. Room was clean and fresh. Pleased with our choice.
Friendly, helpful staff in an interesting neighborhood near tram stops. Tiny, but clean and bright rooms. We will recommend the Hestia to others.
Nice family atmosphere, garden
